Norwich Castle

Historic Event Venue in the heart of Norwich

Norwich Castle is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city centre, originally built as a Royal Palace by the Normans over 900 years ago.

Now a museum and art gallery with some of the country’s finest collections to view, Norwich Castle can also accommodate a versatile range of events and makes a memorable wedding venue as well as a distinctive space for corporate seminars, conferences, private dinners and social gatherings.

The palace remains an important symbol of not only the city, thought to have once been the country’s capital, but Norfolk as a whole and offers fine views over the city.

Ceremony

The Benefactors Room provides an elegant and intimate space to host your civil ceremony for a maximum of 40 guests, to be organised directly through the Norfolk Registrars’ Team.

The Colman Art Gallery, home to the world’s largest public collection of works by the first regional society of artists, offers an alternate licensed ceremony space to seat a maximum of 60 guests in the heart of Norwich Castle.

Reception

The Keep offers a truly unique element to an occasion by boasting original Norman architecture and provides a dramatic and spacious backdrop, perfect for hosting a drink and canapé reception for up to 200 guests standing or a formal seated event for up to 100 guests.

The Rotunda is the hub of the museum, offering a versatile and modern space and venue for large weddings. In close proximity to The Keep and permanent galleries, The Rotunda can accommodate up to 250 guests standing and 200 guests formally seated, located near visitor facilities and an on-site kitchen for ease.

The Colman Gallery can be hired for a drink and canapé reception as well as being licensed for ceremonies. Dependent on the nature of the event, the room can accommodate a maximum of 80 guests seated theatre style or 100 guests standing.

Private Hire & Corporate Events

The Keep and The Rotunda are the main event spaces for hosting formal dinners, large corporate seminars or social gatherings. Specialist audio equipment and Wi-Fi access is available throughout the Castle, ideal for boardroom meetings and conferences.

The Town Close Auditorium has been developed to specialise in providing a comfortable and modern lecture theatre with fixed and flexible seating depending on individual event needs.

The Colman Gallery can also be a suitable, historic alternative location to host meetings and presentations.

If you’re looking for a wedding venue that can fulfil your dreams of a fairy-tale wedding, then where better than a former royal palace in the centre of the historic city of Norwich.
